Montego Bay this year
Has anyone been? Any favorite places to stay ?
Travel tips?
A friend is taking me there to meet other family members this holiday.
We will probably fly out of Greensboro NC but we are open to ideas.

I love Jamaica. It’s a beautiful island. BUT, you really need to be careful when you go off property. The locals harass you unmercifully. Everything from drugs to braiding your hair. A policeman even approached me once to braid my hair!!!!! Also, there is a lot of crime there as well. I haven’t been in years, but I would recommend a 4 stars resort at least and preferably one that is self contained. Take escorted excursions to see different places and for sure do not go out at night. I highly recommend Dunns River Falls..it is so much fun. Have a good time, but remember to never let your guard down.
And remember Murphy is right. Nothing is so bad that it can't get worse!!!

We switched thing up a little based on what you said.
Not sure if I will be able to go because I sent my passport in for a name change and it may not come back in time..
But we will find something fun to do for this holiday!

I was in Montego bay in March. I hope you are staying at a good resort. If you go off resort, just be careful in the evenings.
You do get harassed, your new name will be pretty lady.
I liked Montego Bay but here is why you should be careful.
We went to the main market downtown Montego Bay, the next day I found out and saw a video of a man who was shot and killed on the very street that I had been on the day before. He was shot in broad daylight. So just be careful.
I did enjoy my time there though. And I met lots of lovely people. Just stay away from the pot that is on the street and make sure that you’re not walking around alone.
I went for a raft ride down a river with a lime stone massage. Amazing. Also recommend Negril

Thanks Tallgirl! One of the people in the group was saying stay at an air b&b and I was not feeling at ease about that.

We stayed at Toby’s. Clean and affordable. No luxuries though. It felt safe enough. I didn’t worry there. Starbucks was in walking distance as well as a bank. They deal in US or Jamaician $
