So sorry to hear that Losfer, Koda has been like the unofficial mascot of the men’s thread for years. He was a good boy and he will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Koda, Losfer. He was definitely the unofficial Menz thread mascot for years. He made this thread a more interesting place. Putting down an old friend is never easy, as my family found out just over a year ago. I hope Ginger is joining Tallis on the Koda welcoming committee.

Gents, wishing you and yours a happy and blessed holiday season. Good health and happiness to all of you into the new year. We’re closing a decade that saw all of us suffer in ways we never would have imagined, but we’ve almost made it to the end. May the new decade bring you good health, happiness, and prosperity, and a minimum of pain. Whatever it brings, we Menz can handle it.

I am sorry for your loss, Losfer. My dog, Thor, a half black lab, half boxer, was bitten by a cottonmouth in 2008, and I haven't been able to bring myself to get another since then. Thor crossed the rainbow bridge to Valhalla in the summer, and I sent him along his way with a funeral pyre.

May a mountain of cheeseburgers await Koda at Odin's feet.

Christmas this year is tough. The ex got a lot more gifts for the kids. I know it's not a competition, but I'm feeling kind of like a failure here. I've been putting more money into bills and whatnot to pay off the deficit that we accrued to afford the trip my ex took, during which she cheated. So yeah, I'm pretty goddamn fucking bitter about that.

But I got the kids all a Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild, so they should be happy. My family got them games for it. I got a few other things for them as well, little stuff, but I've been working my ass off at my new/old job. Just got off a 12 hour shift and I'm watching the Muppet's Christmas Carol while wrapping what presents I have for them. My pile is maybe 1/5 the size of the pile my ex has.

My feet hurt. My back hurts. My shoulders are killing me. But you know what? I'm selling the shit out of the phones. I'm paying the goddamn bills. I'm taking care of my girls in the best way I can. I kinda wanna cry because it feels like it's not enough, but goddammit, I'm doing my fucking best.

I need to finish wrapping these presents, take a shower, and go to bed. Tomorrow, I pick the girls up after work and drive them out to my mom's place for our extended family celebration. My ex will probably have her harpies over while we're all gone, if she even bothers coming home. Then tomorrow, for their sake, we get to play Happy Family.

I hope that next year, I have it a little more together.

Fuck, dude. You have it WAY more together than you fucking know. Your girls see you busting your ass, and I don't know if you realize that they see that as well? You are doing GREAT as a father. Next year, you will be able to breathe a bit easier and look back on this and realize it. In the meantime, you are doing most excellent, sir.

Best of holidays to you. You have earned it. I hope you were able to celebrate solstice in some way. Cheers.

Flash the Beagle needs a miracle but he's had a good life. Lots of walks in the woods, the best food and cookies, a warm place to sleep and lots of attention and love.

Christmas here will be like any other day unfortunately. DS and his family, brothers, WW's family spread out across the nation and in Germany. It will be just the two of us plus the dog.

I did buy myself an early Christmas present though. A Nintendo 64 system and my favorite game, Mario Kart 64.

A merry Christmas to all the fine gents here and to those reading this thread.

dms100 network. All old-school ISDN stuff

.

I worked on that I was working on that when my XWW decided to give some extra services at the hotel she was working. Apparently, I didn’t love her anymore.

That was the mid 90s. I fixed the DMS100 (amongst others) for Y2K and was on call as well.

I'm sure replaced with some sort of SIP system.

Worked on that too. That’s why I tend to give examples with Bob and Alice... RFC3261... a way way over complicated protocol.

The N64 is my favorite system, hands down. I've had three over the years that got broken one way or another. Now, I emulate and use a USB 64 controller. It's so awesome.

Echoing the other men here, sending everyone a Happy Holidays however you celebrate. Get to spend some quality time with my son today, there's an annual get together to smoke cigars, drink, and lie about our golf game up at the club every Christmas Eve afternoon. The family will be by tomorrow for Christmas day, we kind of have the default house to get together because a) we have a house and b) I cook. Always fun, and the grandkids will be here for the first time. Should be interesting. End of the month my son and I are heading to the Orange Bowl, so looking forward to that.

So here's to family, friends, and dogs! Let's see what the next decade brings.
