Dinner?
After decades of feeding people, I'm actually starting to enjoy cooking. It's less about filling stomachs now and more about exploring and trying new flavors and teaching myself new techniques. Fun!
I've got a largely improvised beef stew going in the slow cooker. It smells freaking fantastic, if I do say so myself. Can't wait to see how this dinner turns out.

Cornstalk 2015 - Iowa g2g (pics start on pg 13)
Introducing - CornStalk 2015! The first ever (to my knowledge, at least) official Iowa g2g.
The g2g will be the weekend of June 26-28 in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area.
TrekFest is the weekend of June 27th, if that sways anyone who wants to visit Captain Kirk's future birthplace. It's just a short hop down the interstate.
Current plan:
Friday, June 26 -
Dinner and shenanigans about town
Saturday, June 27 -
On your own during the day: Trekfest? Amana Colonies? Hawkeye sightseeing? It's your call.
Party on NIK's lawn Saturday afternoon/night! Great food and lots of fun to be had. Yay!
Sunday, June 28 -

Cure what ails me
I'm totally pathetic today - afflicted with sneezing, sniffling, coughing, runny nose, watery eyes, and all around icky-ness. I clearly can't care for myself, and there's a distinct lack of sympathy among the local natives. 
So, SI family - who's got the cure? Chicken noodle soup? Hot toddies? Please take virtual pity on my sickly self and serve up the secret that will get me back on my feet.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson
Lookout for the “Carlton Dance”! Ribeiro, best known for his role as the memorable Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” will dance with pro Witney Carson. Ribeiro’s hilarious dance moves on the hit TV series gained a cult following among '90s kids.
Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas
The 17-year-old appears in A&E’s reality show, “Duck Dynasty,” alongside family patriarch Phil Robertson and the rest of camouflage-wearing clan. The daughter of Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson will trade duck calls for dancing shoes and sequins, pairing up with pro Mark Ballas this season.
"We don’t have much dancing experience in the family," Robertson said today on "GMA."
