Furiously Happy

I just finished the book Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson. It's her second book, but it doesn't seem to matter that I read it before her first.

I have struggled with anxiety and depression for a number of years, but of course it's been magnified since d-day. This book is incredibly light hearted, hilarious and comforting. The author has struggled with various mental illnesses for all her life and this book is her reflection. the book does not have a logical timeline or really even a plot, but it had me laughing out loud many times. I had to stop reading it on my train to work because people were staring.... Most importantly, it reminded me that during the dark times I'm not alone. It has helped me remember that the negative thoughts are there because my depression is lying to me, not because that's the way others actually see me.

I highly recommend it for anyone who battles mental illness or anyone who knows someone who does. It can provide great insight for both side. Just a note - the author does NOT use a censor, if certain language offends you, maybe it would be best to avoid.
