Has anyone read The Power of the Praying Wife? My friend recommended it for me. I’m not a religious person but the first few chapters of prayers hit home. I need to learn to pray. Sit and talk and ask for some of these prayers.

I hated it. It felt like I was reciting magic chants or spells. It felt artificial and co-dependent (I know what codep is now, I didn't then).

I enjoyed it. Give it chance. It's amazing what prayers can do.

Can you tell me a little about the book? I am using this mess to find my way back to a spiritual life. I find Cherie Hill a good author. Her work is light and easy to read (for me at least) and I can relate to what she is saying. A lot of her books give me comfort.

The concept is very good.

but I felt like she was telling me to be a doormat in the process.

it's worth reading but be cautious with what advice of hers you listen to.

Sorry for the late reply. The book is comprised of daily devotions and prayers (if my memory serves correctly). The book can be used whether you are living together or separated. The important thing is that your heart and mind are focused on personal holiness and growth, while also sincerely praying God's will in your and your spouse's lives. Some of the prayers may need to be tailored to your current living situation, but the overall premise of each should help you focus on praying for his walk w/ the Lord, whether you are together or not.
