Thank you RealityBlows and Trdd for your thoughts.
I've recently come across a phenomenon known as the 'eroticisation of fear' which I believe can have a profound effect on some BH's. It may provide an explanation as to how deep the psychological wounds from infidelity can extend. It really is a total mindf@ck and something I'm ashamed to say I realise has likely affected me to some degree. sad
