Anybody using it? Thoughts and feelings?

I tried it and went back to 10. I've had my taskbar on the left since Windows 7, and I do not like it on the bottom. I like the tb on the left because I think that displays more of most web pages. Am I kidding myself about that?

Also, I never combine taskbar icons, and I couldn't find a setting to keep icons un-combined in Win 11? Did I miss it?

I don't play games, and I don't use 'social media' or use my phone via my PC. I have Office 2013, but I've been using LibreOffice. I use Quicken 2011, and it worked on Win 11. I really don't need the crap that MS added to 11, but I like to stay current for security and reliability.

Give it a year or so to mature further. Like the Win10 start menu, I think they'll end up back tracking on some of the "upgrades". The latest Win 10 (22h2) will be supported until fall of 25.

I keep my taskbars on the right on local physical machines to differentiate them from machines (virtual and physical) that I'm connecting to remotely. Nothing sucks more than accidentally doing something on the wrong machine. Since I also autohide TBars, I need them in different locations to be able to choose which one I want to open. That's one of the reasons I haven't upgraded yet. The other is testing the remote tools.

Right now we are running just a 3% of our fleet on Win 11. Mostly new machines, but some in my area as we prepare to support it. The entire fleet isn't upgradable yet. From my staff, I just hear the usual grumbling, justified, about just moving things around for reasons hard to determine.

None of my home machines meet the requirements. I think the newest is ten years old. The other two are closer to 15.

sisoon - I don't use windows but like grubs I am a big believer in waiting a bit for software to 'mature'. Let other people find the bugs!! You don't need to be a guinea pig.....

So far, I'm not a fan of W11. I'm using it at home but W10 at work. I'm annoyed by the static task bar, too. I thought it was just me!

I imagine I will adapt as always. But I am not planning to upgrade right away unless there is a security issue.

I may do a new computer with the new windows and see how I like it (30 day return policy...). I am usually an early adopter of technology...but..

I thought Win 11 would be good enough almost a year from it's general availability. The thing is: my laptop is almost a year old, and I hope to use it for 7 years, so I'm probably facing a need to get off Win 10 at some point. OTOH, I don't really like my laptop (Thinkbook - should have sprung for a Thinkpad), so maybe I can use the end date of Win 10 support as an excuse for early replacement....
