She's gone.

The dr. said she only had a couple days left, and would be in pain.

I was mentally prepared to do this earlier this year when she started having liver issues. And back then she looked ROUGH. But the doc said that we could see how she does over the next few weeks. Ok, weeks? That's promising. And she rallied ok up until a couple weeks ago.

But hearing "only a couple days". You can prepare your mind for this kind of thing, but your body has other plans.

I'm gutted.

[[VENT]]

Of course, XWW is complaining that she should have been there when it happened.

Oh, really? The same person that moved an hour away from her kids. Only sees them on random days and holidays. Never there with Joely in her bad days, cleaning up after her, day in and day out, when she's incontinent.

Give me a fucking break. mad

[[END VENT]]

tushnurse, and all of you folks that have lost a furry loved one, hugs to you all.

I think I may have blacked out our previous dog's decline over a year or two before she died. I swore then I would never have another pet again, then we did. I think I have given more attention to this dog than our previous, wanting to know when the time comes, I will have given him all I can. And sometimes he gets annoyed with me when I try to pet him as he's resting or trying to settle down to sleep, and he just wants to be next to me, without my petting him. But in the end, I want him to know how much he was loved and wanted. Our pooch is 11 1/2 years, a medium-sized dog, so probably has a few more years left if all is OK. He has a grade 2-3 heart murmur (common for his breed), but it hasn't slowed him down a bit.

All of your stories here, of loss, remind me to cherish every moment I get with him. As I'm sure you can all relate, some days it's easier than others.

My condolences to each of you here who have lost a beloved pet; the pain only reflects the deep love we had for them.

Sorry for your loss

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Its strange my bestie at work also lost a dog last week 2 days before me. He was older so not completely unexpected but had a very rapid decline.

It is the worst part of having them for sure.
As far as valuing every day I absolutely did with my girl especially after the episode on the 4th of July 22. We all knew she was on borrowed time.

Anyway sorry to all who ha e been here done this or are currently doing it.

Sending ((virtual hugs)) to those who have lost companion animals. Hard stuff and sorry you are going through this.
May you find peace and healing.
