Oh yes, girl!

I regularly get carob chips from the health food store. I either bake them in a chocolate chip cookie recipe, or I grind them up and put the powder on vanilla ice cream. 😁😁😁

Yesterday it was all warm and everything was muddy.

Today damn cold and everything is white again.

Fifties today and snowstorm tomorrow. I'm done with winter already.

It’s supposed to snow and sleet most of the day here in N Texas. Temps will be right at freezing so the roads should stay ok.

Hah! People hate me when I say that there's going to be one more snowstorm come April.

Don't see the point in hoping for the final gasp of winter before it's actually gonna give up.

Fed all the baby tarantulas. I think I spent more time trying to catch the cricket that escaped me than feeding all of them combined.

It is freaking cold today. Getting colder by the hour.

We got snow. But it wasn't that the snow made it bad. The wind has. White out conditions.

It's still blowing badly but has stopped snowing. I have one of the old TV antenna which my internet is attached to and I'm waiting for it to blow down.

Side note: horses get frisky when its windy...lots of running and reading and bucking.

It has become crystal clear that my DS does not have the same respect or passion for tarantulas as I do.

DD has a mounted and jar collection of butterflies.

I wanted to mount a tarantula shed skin. It's laid out on a board in the basement.

DD and DS went downstairs to see if she bagged up her tights because she can't find them.

I'm in the bathroom and can hear them clear as day:

DD: don't leave me

DS: screaming

Ds thumping up stairs.

Ds: Mooooooom!!!!!!!

Me: yes? (Still in bathroom)...

Ds: did you lose one of your tarantulas???

Me: no that's a shed skin.

Ds: Jesus christ mom are you trying to give me a heart attack?!?

All arachnids do.

Like crabs and lobsters who shed their exoskeleton. Anything with an exoskeleton will shed it when they are growing. Snakes and lizards shed their skins.

So yeah. It's cool.

We habe some amazing snake skin sheds. But the tarantula sheds are so fragile and brittle they usually fall apart. Getting a full one is rare.

I think wh managed to remove a recent shed from thr adult indian ornamental but only her fangs came out. If I can find where he put them I'll take a photo of them in my hand and post it for you so you can see how large just her fangs are.

I'm also in the country. I see snake skins all the time. BUT not in my house -- until I found a very large snake skin in my utility room. I freaked out, wondering where the snake went. I figured out it had to come in through the dryer vent, I think. The shed skin is LARGE so the snake is a big one. A few years ago I had a new dishwasher put in and when removing the old dishwasher, a snake skin was in the insulation on the side of the old dishwasher. It scared the dishwasher installer almost to death.

I didn't know spiders shed! Interesting.

As promised, photos of the fangs of our Indian Ornamental tarantula. These are just her fangs. That's my hand. Ok so my hand isn't that large but they are still impressive fangs.

No I am NOT going to get her out snd attempt a photo in my hand. For one, she doesn't fit
