Tush, I reacall seeing mini-loaves of bread when I would visit my daughter at Cape Cod. But nothing like that here. I don't eat a lot of bread so a full loaf goes stale. I will definitely try putting a loaf in the mocrowave. Sounds like a good plan.

Dragn, bread in cardboard? I recall going to Zehrs food store in Ontario and seeing MILK in plastic bags for the first time. And when I visit Canadian friends, they want me to cook southern food and I was stunned to see a very tiny cardboard box of CRISCO on the store shelf. Ha! I'd use THAT on one big southern meal. I buy Crisco by the 10 lb. can. When I visit Ontario now, I take my own Crisco. Got stopped for a border check once and they asked WHY I was bringing that across the border.

You know the Plastic tab things they use on bread bags to keep it closed? That's what they have changed to cardboard.

I read once that the colour of the tab mattered. Told you how fresh the bread was. Nothing like that on the cardboard tabs.

And yes we have milk in bags. Also have milk in cartons and plastic jugs. So it's ok to use plastic for milk (instead of all cartons) BUT bread bag tabs habe to go....

Last night started FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - AKA local high school football games. I live between two small towns, which are rivals. Fun! I saw a short video clip of one high school game (don't know where it was) and a Doe and her Twin Fawns got right out in the middle of the high school football field. The fawns were running around frisky playing. The Doe was trying to get her twins to leave. It was quite fun to watch.

We just watched the first 2 episodes if Lord Of the Rings, The Rings of Power.

OMG. So love it! Of course get to the end of episode 2 and it says a new one will be out Friday. FRIDAY!!!

I am not used to having to wait lol. We just buy a series once it's out and then binge lol.

Jeaniegirl I've seen videos of baby moose playing in sprinklers and mom always looks annoyed lol

We keep our bread in the refrigerator. I have a silicone muffin tray, Dragonheart. I make egg muffins with chopped ham, egg, milk dump some parm in, throw them in the toaster oven and they go quickly. Hub will eat for breakkie and Daughter will eat them and she doesn’t like eggs.

OK. I readily admit that I have been a poor dog owner this time around.

We have a 10 to 12 year old black lab/jack Russell mix. "Jackie Chan". Not sure of her age because she was a rescue. She is an absolute angel, but a couple of years ago her 2 sisters died about six months apart. And she has basically been in mourning ever since. 😢

A year ago this April, we got "April", who is a border collie/beagle mix. I’ve had dogs my whole life, and she is absolutely the most beautiful dog I’ve ever seen. Very diminutive, and a little skittish, but so very sweet. Now about 18 months old.

And then there’s "Doofus". Her real name is "Maggie May" (spelled that way because we got her in May). She is a total doofus! They told us she is a Bassett hound/beagle mix. But I’m thinking that was a lie! My son thinks there is some type of coonhound mixed in there. Now about 6 1/2 months old.

So, I say I am a horrible with these two particular dogs, because ever since we got these dogs, my H has been in and out of the hospital, or requiring a great deal of my time and attention. So my interaction with them has been sleeping with them as much as I can, but mostly just limited playtime.

So this morning we set off on our maiden "dog walking" training. Let me just say that it did not go well!

Keep in mind that they have never been out of the backyard and our home.

As expected, April was very sensitive to noise and her surroundings. Kept her nose down and was really scoping everything out. She was more agreeable with the leash.

Maggie, on the other hand, lived up to her nickname. Doofus. She would walk for a little while, then twirl around to try to get the collar off of her neck, and then just pop a squat in the middle of the street.

I was totally patient with them and we spent a lot of the 15 minute walk just laughing and getting petted, and trying to encourage them. I must say that on the way back home, for about 50 yards, I began to see that they were a little tiny bit progressing.

Cesar Malon would not have given me an A by any means. But I think we did OK for the first day.

Your brave taking all 3 out for a with some for the first time. I struggle with my 2 standard poodles and mini schnauzer. They have all been leash trained. Glad you got to laugh!

Well, I have to admit that I actually only took the two young girls out today.

Jackie Chan, my older girl, not only doesn’t really feel like a walk, but she has very little patience with the two adolescents, and she disciplines them on a regular basis.

My only hope with this is that they are both so very smart, so I feel they will get the hang of it. And I am an OK dog walker, so I think it will just be a matter of repetition.

One of my personality traits that does not serve me well is that I tend to want to hurry through everything so that I can complete the task. I have made the decision to enjoy every minute of the chaos that will probably ensue until they get the hang of it. Like I did this morning.

But you make a good point. Maybe I should take each one out separately for the first few times to get them in the hang of it. That way it will be easier when I take them together.

My daughter is staying with me until she can find a home with a yard. She's at a new school and needs to move closer to work. In the meantime, during the day, I have this PUPPY of hers. He is now huge at 8 months old. He literally hates his collar, his harness, his leash. Wants nothing to do with any of that. While I have a lot of property and he has a huge front yard to play in with no traffic out front, he does well with that and loves chasing, retrieving his ball and bringing it back to me. But when I try to teach him to walk on a leash, he will fight the collar or the harness. He can actually get out of his collar. It's heavy duty with a 'handle' on it. He hates all of it. When attaching a leash, he will just simply sit down and his four legs go straight out, like he's melted. There is NO moving him until the leash is off. I've given up trying to leash train him as he's very strong and I'm NOT. In a few months, he's going to outweigh me! He's an English Bulldog. He looks like the photos of Dragn's dog that she posted. He was 8 weeks old when daughter got him.

My two puppies together weigh less than 10 lbs. So they are very manageable for me. I'm not accustomed to a stubborn dog, for sure. I think my daughter is going to try to get him into obedience training. I can't take him! He's too lazy and fat to jump up in the car and I can't lift him. In addition, he's not overly fond of car rides. She will have to find a weekend obedience school.

Whatsright, your girls sound so sweet. I don't know what we would do without our 'comfort friends.'

Play with them for at least 15 minutes then try to leash walk, 1 at a time in the backyard. Best if you can train them 1 at a time. When we start leash training adults I put the collar and leash on and under supervision let them run around, this gets them use to the feel of the collar and leash.

It looks like Operation London Bridge (Queen's passing) is kicking off in the UK. Even Harry & Megan are headed to Balmore where she's currently domiciled. She's been UK's monarch for 70 years now.

News is saying she has passed.

I’m so sorry to hear about her death.

I’m pretty sure that we in the United States cannot quite comprehend the significance to those of you in the UK.

I feel happy for her. It seems to me that she has put in her time, and she has gotten through the struggles with her family, etc., and she has earned her rest.

I liked the Queen. She was a very diplomatic ruler. Her son? Not so much. I only wish she had promoted Kate to be Queen after her passing.

Not having ever been a subject in a monarchy, I don’t have any real opinions about it, except to agree with the dislike for the queens eldest son. And for the fact that the present queen is that revolting woman.

I am however feeling a real loss regarding the queens passing. I think more than anything, it must be because of her ever presence for so very long.

It’s hard when the way things are and the way things have been for so very long just suddenly cease to be true anymore.

OK, I basically hate all change. But that’s another topic for a visit to a counselor!
