We live in the area of total eclipse - so it is pretty crazy - schools will be closed, many businesses have posted they will be closed. They are expecting an influx of 80,000 - 100,000 visitors. Honestly, I am not that excited - I know, I know - it's a once in a life time event - just can't seem to get that excited. My husband, on the other hand, is ecstatic! He has talked about it for months! Since we are in the path of 100% totality - it has been on the news constantly as businesses plan "solar events".

Talked to my daughter last night. She works for a resort in Texas which also is in the line of nearly 100% totality. It is a big tourist location year round and add the eclipse and she said they have been fully booked for months. She is excited about the eclipse - but says she is concerned about what kind of day she is going to have at work on Monday.

If anyone is still looking for glasses - I got my husband a pair at our local library.

I'm right there with you. I think the only reason that people are so excited about seeing it is that they aren't supposed to look at it! It's the forbidden fruit story, imo. I'm in an area of totality, and I'm quite sure I'll be napping like I am every Monday afternoon when I get home from work. Seeing it on the news will be fine for me.

I think it’s more than the sun’s light being blocked; it’s how it alters the behavior of animals that I find so interesting. I remember a few years ago during the last eclipse watching the bats flying around in the middle of the afternoon; there are so many other animals whose behavior becomes odd during an eclipse.

Where I am it’s been raining for days and on Monday the weather forecast is not for nice weather…. 😏

Okay, I'm going outside. I'm going to sit in the memorial area of my deceased big boy Golden Retriever. I think he knows when I sit at his grave site - and it's comforting to me. It's a good area to sit and watch the eclipse. My little doggies are staying in the house. I have outside feral/barn cats so it's going to be interesting to see their reaction.

An hour due south of me is totality with >4min. Also gorgeous weather resulted in the highway down that wa is deadlock traffic.

Gorgeous weather here. The 93% eclipse resulted in very eerie light. Outside was still pretty well lit, but there was a strange color (?) something like when a thunderstorm is about to break a short distance away, but it's still sunny where I'm standing.

Despite clouds rolling by we all got to see the eclipse. Funny thing, we weren't in the path of totality but man did it get dark here. Once it was past it got really bright.

At 93% where we live. I kept waiting to notice a temperature drop and when it wasn't coming, I thought maybe we weren't close enough to totality to experience it. Then about ten minutes before we hit the 93%, man did I ever get chilly... had to run back inside and grab a jacket! And I'd say about 20 minutes after hitting 93%, it started to warm up.

It was fascinating, but one of the things I will remember the most is how many neighbors were out in their front yards visiting with each other. There's a new house going up about three doors down from us, and even the construction workers basically blew the afternoon off and hung out in the street watching. One of the worker's wives showed up to join him for the experience with their six-month old son. It was nice to see a bunch of guys who we normally see doing such hard physical labor just sort of enjoying themselves for a few hours.

Sounds like I was in the only cloud covered area. The sun was out earlier today and then the clouds rolled in. Bummer!!!!!

We were in the path of totality, the sky’s cleared just in time and it was an awesome thing to witness. We had 4 minutes of totality, It got cold, and everything went silent. It was definitely worth all the hype.

We took a trip up to Canada and was in Kingston, ON for the eclipse. It was in the totality, about 3:45 of it. It was very cool, the hotel we stayed at was right on the harbor at the confluence of the St. Lawrence river and Lake Ontario. They had eclipse glasses all over the place they were handing out. Crowds weren't bad as the patio by the bar was limited to hotel guests. Made for an amazing end to a cool trip!

I know I'm late to the game, but I only log in once or twice a month anymore. But I thought maybe some would want to see some pictures of totality. Although I guess by now, if you wanted to see pictures, the Internet is full of them. I traveled about 4 hours with two telescopes and a DSLR with a long lens and camped for 4 days to see the eclipse. I saw the 2017 eclipse with my Dad, who unfortunately couldn't come with me this time. But we're planning on going together to Egypt in 2027 to see that one. Over 6 minutes of totality!
